FACES OF THE WAVES celebrates the close-knit strength of the Huntington Beach surf community—where elders mentor grommets and families take care of one another. Sparked during the 2020 Olympics when surfing debuted as an official sport, Gayle MacAllister returned from Austin, Texas, to capture 150 diverse faces of the surf culture she grew up in.
