FACES OF THE WAVES celebrates the close-knit strength of Southern California’s surf community—where elders mentor grommets and families take care of one another. Sparked during the 2020 Olympics when surfing debuted as an official sport, Gayle MacAllister returned to her hometown of Huntington Beach to capture 150 diverse faces of the surf culture she grew up near.
